On 14 September 2026 Uniper signed an agreement to sell its 20% stake in the roughly 470 km OPAL gas pipeline (Lubmin to Brandov, Czech Republic) to hydrogen investor Hy24 (Clean Hydrogen Infrastructure Fund). The sale fulfils a condition of the Uniper stabilisation package approved by the European Commission on 20 December 2022. No price was disclosed; completion is subject to regulatory approvals and to a co-shareholder's right of first refusal. The pipeline is to be converted to hydrogen and become part of Germany's hydrogen core network (Leadersnet, 14 Sep 2026). Update (22 September 2026): According to JUVE, co-owner Gascade Gastransport, which holds the remaining 80% of the pipeline, did not use its contractual pre-emption right; regulatory clearances and completion are still pending (JUVE, 22 September 2026, https://www.juve.de/deals/white-case-mandantin-uebernimmt-uniper-anteil-an-pipeline-opal/).
