Commission blocks Polish aid for MAN plant in Niepołomice

- On 5 October 2026 the European Commission declares Poland's planned investment aid of around €26m (PLN 116m) for the capacity expansion of MAN Trucks' truck plant in Niepołomice incompatible with the internal market
Poland may not pay out the aid; the Commission found neither an incentive effect for the Małopolskie location nor a limitation to the minimum necessary.
The Commission had opened an in-depth investigation in July 2025. In its assessment, Poland failed to show that MAN would have invested elsewhere without the support, or that the amount was proportionate; the regional aid guidelines require both (European Commission, 5 Oct 2026).
