On 5 June 2026 Hamburg's transport authority secures funding for three U3 projects: step-free upgrade of Sierichstrasse, a second entrance at Habichtstrasse and a new Fuhlsbüttler Strasse stop

Total investment of about EUR 80 million (EUR 25.7 million Sierichstrasse, EUR 15.35 million Habichtstrasse, EUR 38.5 million Fuhlsbüttler Strasse); about 15,000 people gain markedly better U-Bahn access.

The transport authority is pooling funds for three U3 projects: Sierichstrasse is to be rebuilt step-free with a longer platform and a second entrance; Habichtstrasse gets a second entrance serving about 4,700 residents, with construction due to start in spring 2027; and a new stop for about 10,000 people is to be built at Fuhlsbüttler Strasse. The works are being scheduled together, with disruption on the U3 between Barmbek and Wandsbek-Gartenstadt in the second half of 2027. (LOK Report, 5 Jun 2026)
