New Dortmund signalling box commissions approach line I

Between 15 and 17 July 2017, Deutsche Bahn commissioned the section Herne – Castrop-Rauxel – Dortmund Hauptbahnhof for the new electronic signalling box (ESTW) Dortmund, construction stage "Zulaufstrecke I" (approach line I). The former manned dispatcher signal boxes at Castrop-Rauxel and Dortmund-Mengede were decommissioned; the line has since been remotely controlled from Dortmund. During the works, S-Bahn line S2 was suspended between Herne and Dortmund Hbf and replaced by a rail replacement bus service.
