State, Pforzheim and Enzkreis join the Karlsruhe transport association

The State of Baden-Württemberg, the city of Pforzheim and the Enzkreis district have joined the KVV as shareholders, merging the area of the Pforzheim-Enzkreis transport association (VPE) into it; the accession was notarised on 18 December 2025 and the new structure started work with the supervisory board meeting on 20 January 2026. The association now covers almost 2 million people over more than 4,000 km2; a single fare system is currently planned for December 2026 (LOK Report, 21 Jan 2026).
