Phase 1 of the Trianel Windpark Borkum is located about 45 km north of the island of Borkum in the North Sea and was connected to the grid in August 2015 with 200 MW of installed capacity. The array comprises 40 Areva M5000-116 turbines (5 MW each) and is operated by Trianel together with 33 municipal utilities. The investment volume for Phase 1 was approximately EUR 900 million.
