As part of Deutsche Bahn's general renovation programme for its high-performance rail network (renamed "Korridorsanierung" in 2025/26), the roughly 75 km Rhine Valley Railway section between Mannheim and Karlsruhe (Mannheim–Rastatt line) is to undergo a thorough renewal — tracks, overhead line, signalling, stations, ETCS — during a months-long full closure, modelled on the 2024 Riedbahn renovation. Originally planned for the second half of 2030, the closure is currently scheduled by DB for 10 January to 27 June 2031; the project has not yet started. No specific investment figure for this corridor is given in the source.
