Planned

On 17 June 2026 DB, the state of Baden-Württemberg, the Neckar-Alb regional light rail association and three districts agreed a timetable: electric operation is to start in stages from 2038 at the latest, and in the base case Albstadt-Ebingen is reached in 2039 and Sigmaringen in 2040. Work will proceed in four sections starting at Tübingen (24.7, 17.0, 17.9 and 27.9 km); the federal government is expected to cover 75% of costs, or 90% for electrification, with the state topping up. The date is a placeholder: the article gives 2040 as the year Sigmaringen is reached in the base case, and a faster opportunity scenario is possible. Announced on 17 June 2026 (LOK Report, 17 Jun 2026; second source: Landratsamt Zollernalbkreis, 18 Jun 2026).
