Borkum Riffgrund 1 wind farm with 312 MW is operational

The Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm is located about 38 km north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea and comprises 78 Siemens SWT-4.0-120 turbines (4 MW each) with a total installed capacity of 312 MW. It is operated by Ørsted (Orsted Borkum Riffgrund I GmbH), began commercial operation in October 2015, and cost approximately EUR 1.25 billion. It supplies power equivalent to around 320,000 German households and was the first German offshore wind farm able to provide grid-stabilising feed-in.
