The new Fangschleuse station has been in operation since mid-August 2026 and was officially inaugurated on 11 September 2026. Two tracks are in use now, with four from the December 2026 timetable change, plus three freight tracks linking the industrial area. The 220 m platforms allow eight-car regional trains, lifting RE1 capacity to 800 seats from about 630. Twelve track-kilometres and 40 switches were built in under eighteen months; the second platform track slipped by about two weeks, so full commissioning, including rooftop solar, follows in December. The date is a placeholder: the article gives only the month, so the end of the month is used. DB is also extending platforms at Berkenbrück, Jacobsdorf and Pillgram to 220 m, and since 25 August 2026 the RE1 again runs through between Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder) after the line closure.
