The work was part of the reconstruction of the "Halle rail node," whose total investment (including the freight yard) was about EUR 850 million — per Wikipedia the largest Deutsche Bahn infrastructure project in Saxony-Anhalt. The remaining tracks 1 to 3 followed only in January 2021.
