- Investment
- not specified (total damage to the rail network from the 2021 floods – Eifel Line and neighbouring lines combined – estimated at about €1.3bn, with roughly €800m provided by the federal government via its infrastructure fund; no figure broken out for the Eifel Line alone)
- Status

The 163.5 km Eifel Line between Hürth-Kalscheuren (Cologne) and Trier-Ehrang had been interrupted since the flood night of 14/15 July 2021, which damaged more than 50 bridges, 180 level crossings and around 40 signal boxes along the Eifel Line and neighbouring lines. With the release of the last remaining section, Kall–Gerolstein, on 16 June 2025, the line became passable end-to-end again, and hourly RB 22 services between Gerolstein and Köln Messe/Deutz resumed that day. Electrification work continues in parallel and, according to Deutsche Bahn, is due to be completed during 2028.
