- Brandenburg's infrastructure ministry publishes results of its review of disused rail lines: feasibility studies (December 2025, March 2026) and, on 29 May 2026, a negative cost-benefit analysis for Joachimsthal–Templin
Joachimsthal–Templin is therefore ineligible for GVFG funding; Werneuchen–Wriezen and Neustadt (Dosse)–Neuruppin West move on to cost-benefit analysis, Hoppegarten–Altlandsberg is dropped, and Fredersdorf–Rüdersdorf remains doubtful
Brandenburg assesses disused lines under a standard procedure whose cost-benefit result decides eligibility for federal and state funding under the GVFG. First studies in December 2025 found enough potential for Werneuchen–Wriezen in two variants, ruled out Hoppegarten–Altlandsberg because of land-use conflicts, and rated passenger potential on Fredersdorf–Rüdersdorf as doubtful. In March 2026 consultants recommended a shuttle service for Neustadt (Dosse)–Neuruppin West, and on 29 May 2026 the analysis for the Schorfheide line Joachimsthal–Templin found costs clearly exceeding benefits. Further studies on other lines continue. (LOK Report, 29 May 2026)
