Aichach-Friedberg district agrees to AVV joining Munich's MVV

The district assembly of the Aichach-Friedberg district agrees in principle to the AVV joining the Munich Transport and Tariff Association. This brings a merger of the AVV and MVV transport associations from 2026 closer, although final open cost questions remain. Update (08.07.2026): The merger of AVV and MVV has been pushed back by at least a year to early 2028, owing to funding gaps (the Bavarian state approved €6m, about half of it only for one-off conversion costs), a complex contract for dividing up assets and the parallel accession of the districts of Dillingen and Donau-Ries to AVV in early 2027 (Radio Augsburg, 08.07.2026: https://www.radio-augsburg.de/mega-fusion-verschoben-zusammenchluss-von-avv-und-mvv-verzoegert-sich-wegen-geldmangel-265290/).
