In the insolvency proceedings of Augsburg-based tool maker Eberle (band-saw technology; insolvency filed back in May 2026), employees were told in late August 2026 that about 160 of 250 jobs would be cut (a partial shutdown, roughly 64% of the workforce per union IG Metall). Hessian saw manufacturer WIKUS took over the bimetal production and part of the saw-band business under a purchase agreement dated 4 September 2026, continuing around 75 employees in a new subsidiary at a southern Augsburg site (b4bschwaben, ms-aktuell.de, 1–5 Sep 2026).
