Transdev and HCR set up cable-car company for Herne

Straßenbahn Herne – Castrop-Rauxel (51%) and Transdev (49%) have founded a joint company to operate a future urban cable car in Herne. The line of about one kilometre is to link Herne-Wanne-Eickel main station with the former Blumenthal XI colliery site and would be Germany's first cable car integrated into the local transport network, running under the brand Blumenthal Airline. The city council is expected to decide on the tender in summer 2026; no opening date is given (LOK Report, 24 Feb 2026).
