As part of the Berlin–Dresden line upgrade (ABS Berlin-Dresden, phase 1), Wünsdorf-Waldstadt station was rebuilt between 2020 and 2023: the outer platforms were widened to 4 metres, a level crossing was replaced with a pedestrian/cycle underpass (completed November 2021), and a new electronic signal box (ESTW) was installed. Deutsche Bahn and the city of Zossen celebrated the reopening of the now barrier-free station on 21 September 2023 — the list's stated date of 2022-10-31 is not supported by the sources (only platforms 1 and 2 were finished in 2022).
