Bitterfeld station opens new station building

Bitterfeld station received an entirely new station building east of the tracks; the old building was demolished between March and August 2023, with construction of the new one starting in October 2023. The roughly EUR 23 million project was funded under Germany's Coal Regions Investment Act and opened on 16 July 2025. The work was part of broader station modernisation dating back to the late 1990s (platforms, track infrastructure, electronic signal box).
