Mechanical and plant engineering group Dürr is cutting around 500 jobs worldwide at BBS Automation, the subsidiary it acquired in 2023, roughly 200 of them across four German sites (the subsidiary is headquartered in Garching near Munich); the cuts are to be implemented in 2026 and 2027. The company blames weak demand from the automotive industry, which is investing cautiously in new production systems despite growing electric vehicle sales. Dürr expects €40m to €50m in restructuring costs in 2026 and is targeting annual savings of around €30m; the 2030 revenue target for BBS was lowered from €800m to more than €600m. Compulsory redundancies are to be avoided where possible but cannot be ruled out. Second source: Wochenblatt-Reporter.
