The Hamburg–Bremen rail corridor is part of DB InfraGO's general renovation of the high-performance network, under which more than 4,000 km of Germany's busiest core lines are being fundamentally rebuilt during multi-month full closures by 2035. The route links northern German seaports with Europe's largest marshalling yard at Maschen and includes extensive control and signalling technology work. Originally scheduled for the first half of 2028, the corridor was postponed to the second half of 2031 under DB InfraGO's revised schedule, which was coordinated with the federal government and the rail industry; no confirmed information on ETCS equipment for this section was found (unlike Hamburg–Berlin, where ETCS was explicitly dropped from that corridor's renovation).
