On 13 August 2026 the European Commission unconditionally cleared the sale of 51% of Volkswagen subsidiary Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) to US private equity firm Bain Capital, finding no competition concerns. The previously announced sale values the Augsburg-based company at EUR 7.4 billion. Everllence builds large engines and turbomachinery (marine propulsion among other things), employs around 16,000 people and most recently generated revenue of roughly EUR 4.9 billion. Volkswagen has undertaken to maintain the five German sites at least until 2030, with compulsory redundancies ruled out over that period. Completion of the transaction is still pending.
