Construction start for the last remaining section of the A14 northern extension between Wittenberge and Karstädt. Previously, the Lüderitz–Stendal-Süd section had been opened, making 36 continuous motorway kilometres between Wolmirstedt and Stendal-Süd drivable. Construction start announced on 29 June 2026: according to federal transport minister Patrick Schnieder, the roughly 18 km four-lane section, with 23 bridges and other engineering structures, costs about €316m. A Deges tender puts the opening to traffic at the end of 2032, and the federal transport ministry aims to complete the whole A14 northern extension by 2032 — the date of 31 Dec 2032 is a placeholder for that target year (Nordkurier, 18 Mar 2026; dpa/Volksstimme, 26 Jun 2026).
