The roughly 6-kilometer section between Müllheim and Auggen entered scheduled four-track operation with the December 14, 2025 timetable change. Two new long-distance tracks rated for speeds up to 250 km/h relieve the existing Rhine Valley Railway; over the roughly six-year construction period, twelve bridges were newly built and nearly eight kilometers of noise barriers installed. The section is part of the overall approximately EUR 14.2 billion upgrade program for the Rhine Valley Railway between Karlsruhe and Basel.
