West of Dresden's main station, Deutsche Bahn is replacing the aging railway crossing structure that carries the Leipzig–Dresden and Berlin–Dresden upgrade lines over the Saxony-Franconia main line, raising speeds from 60 to 80 km/h. The eastern half has been in operation since 16 February 2026, the western tracks are due to follow in mid-November 2026, with overall project completion planned for 2027.
