- Status
- In operation (report of 15 December 2025); two further interlockings under construction until early 2027
DB InfraGO has put the electronic interlockings at Hörlkofen and Thann-Matzbach on the Munich–Mühldorf line into operation; the roughly 100 trains a day between Markt Schwaben and Dorfen are now controlled remotely from the Dorfen signal box. The technology replaces two mechanical signal boxes from 1899 and 1958 and cost the federal government and DB about EUR 50 million in total (50 signals, four sets of points, seven level crossings; a little over two years including planning, eight months of them construction). New interlockings are also being built at Schwindegg and Heldenstein, so that the last mechanical signal boxes on the line will be replaced by early 2027; twelve of 16 planning-approval sections for electrification and double-tracking (ABS 38) are in the approval process. The date is a placeholder: the commissioning day is not given, so the day of the report is used. (LOK Report, 15 Dec 2025)
