By 2030 DB InfraGO is renewing the control and safety technology around Kassel main station and the marshalling yard, replacing several older interlocking types with electronic technology. The first stage has been live since mid-June 2026: two operator workstations at the main station control the Obervellmar–Hofgeismar–Warburg line, with train-dispatcher jobs moving from the Rhine-Main area to northern Hesse. Further stages need additional construction work before full commissioning in 2030, with closures in the hub announced from 9 October 2026. The date is a placeholder for the year 2030 (LOK Report, 2 Jul 2026).
