Occasion: Drees & Sommer reports on 13 January 2026 that it supports DB InfraGO with scheduling, steering of the sub-projects and risk management for the digital upgrade of the Scandinavian–Mediterranean corridor (ScanMed). On the German section, about 4,500 km long and linking Denmark with Austria, DB InfraGO is installing ETCS and new interlocking technology; with more than 30,000 control units and many digital control and technology centres, the project counts among the largest digitalisation projects in the country. The new IP-based interlockings gradually replace older types and are meant to allow components from different manufacturers to be combined; ETCS is to permit shorter train headways and reduce the number of trackside installations. Completion is planned for around the end of 2035, and the report gives no costs; the date is a placeholder, and 31 December 2035 is used. (LOK Report, 13 Jan 2026)
