SWEG renews Zollern-Alb-Bahn 2 Hechingen–Sigmaringen by 2028

SWEG Schienenwege is renewing track, bridges and signalling on the roughly 50 km Zollern-Alb-Bahn 2; the track and bridge works (about EUR 118 million) are due to continue until 2028. The new signalling technology (about EUR 31 million so far, of which EUR 6.8 million from the state) was already in service by October 2025, with remaining level-crossing protection work in 2026. The date is a placeholder: only the year 2028 is given; the renewal programme began in 2021 (LOK Report, 4 May 2026).
