Bonn completes renovation of station hall roof

Deutsche Bahn renovated the roughly 5,500 sqm, heritage-protected hall roof of Bonn Central Station: 290 individual roof segments weighing 115 tonnes in total and 45 roof supports were renewed, and around 1,400 rivet connections were undone and reinstated. Work ran in seven construction phases from summer 2017; the assembly gantry was dismantled in mid-November 2020 and the project was completed with the December 2020 timetable change, financed with more than €30 million by Nahverkehr Rheinland, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Deutsche Bahn.
