Lufthansa firms up plan to cut up to 550 jobs in savings drive

Lufthansa is putting concrete numbers on its 'New Ways' savings programme: up to 550 full-time positions will go at the core Lufthansa Airlines brand and in central functions. Since 27 July 2026 managers have been approaching individual employees whose roles are being eliminated, offering termination agreements with severance or paid release from duties; employees cannot volunteer for the scheme. The step is one implementation stage of the roughly 4,000 administrative job cuts by 2030 announced in September 2025 (reported by Reise vor9 on 28 July 2026, citing Handelsblatt and Aero).
