Since 1 May 2026 trains on WestfalenBahn's RE 15 line (Emden–Lingen–Rheine–Münster) call hourly in both directions at the new station north of Leer. It has two platforms, each 225 m long and 76 cm high, with ramps, weather shelters and tactile guidance. Opening had originally been planned for the 2025/2026 timetable change but DB InfraGO postponed it. (LOK Report, 28 Apr 2026)
