Covenant opens cruise missile plant in Leipzig

US defence company Covenant, founded in 2024, opened a production site in Leipzig on 05.10.2026 where it plans to build the Anthem cruise missile from 2027: 1,000 units in the first year and 5,000 in 2028. Up to 250 people are to work in production, and Leipzig is to become the company's largest site worldwide; state secretary Johannes Steiniger of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs put the investment at around €250m.
