The operator is Skyborn Renewables (majority-owned by Global Infrastructure Partners, with a minority stake held by Stadtwerke München); state construction and operating approval was granted in December 2025. Construction is scheduled to start in mid-2027, with commissioning expected by the end of 2028; more recent reports even cite an approved capacity increased to 976.5 MW. Update (11.09.2026): Skyborn has reached financial close — over €3bn has been secured from 16 commercial lenders and the European Investment Bank, with Stadtwerke München as equity partner. Construction has started; the 63 turbines (up to 976.5 MW) are due to be installed from late summer 2027, with commercial operation targeted for 2028 (offshoreWIND.biz, 11.09.2026).
