Vattenfall takes final investment decision for Brunsbüttel battery storage

Vattenfall has taken the final investment decision for the Brunsbüttel battery storage project: 254 MW / 1,000 MWh (4-hour storage) on the site of the former nuclear power plant, connected via a new substation to the 380 kV grid. Capacity was increased from the originally planned 700 MWh to 1,000 MWh; completion is planned by end of 2028. This nearly doubles Vattenfall's battery portfolio from 270 MW to about 524 MW.
