Theo Müller to close plants in Rogätz and Leppersdorf

The Theo Müller group is giving up two production sites: the Homann sauce plant in Rogätz, Börde district, with about 160 staff will stop production by the end of September 2027, while the Sachsenmilch hard cheese dairy in Leppersdorf, including its packing and administration areas and likewise about 160 staff, closes on 31 December 2026. For Rogätz the group cites a cost base that is not competitive, heavy investment needs and falling demand for sauces in jars; in Leppersdorf, it says, the business cannot be run profitably in the long term. The sour-milk cheese and mozzarella operations at Wachau continue. Talks with the works council are to cover redeployment within the group, agreed changes to contracts and training. Leppersdorf was first reported by the Leipziger Volkszeitung and confirmed by a company spokesperson (dpa-AFX, 6 Oct 2026).
