Planet Labs opens satellite production in Berlin, adding 70 jobs

US Earth-observation company Planet Labs opened a series-production facility for its high-resolution Pelican satellites in Berlin on 22 Sep 2026, in the presence of German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche; capacity is to rise to up to 60 satellites a year, with the first Berlin-built satellite due before year-end. Another 70 staff are to join the roughly 150 already employed at the Berlin European hub; the company did not disclose the investment (dpa reports an amount of more than €10 million is expected) (Via Satellite, dpa via ad-hoc-news.de, 22 Sep 2026).
