On 21 July 2026 the Bavarian cabinet approved thirteen new hospital construction projects with just under €600m of eligible investment costs for the 2027–2031 building programmes. The largest single project is the integration of St Theresien hospital into Krankenhaus Martha-Maria in Nuremberg (around €225.3m) — the first Bavarian use of the federal Transformation Fund, which can cover up to 70% of costs; it is followed by Klinikum Kempten (€94.1m), Klinikum Neumarkt (€90m) and Asklepios Stadtklinik Bad Tölz (€55.3m). Total earmarked investment funding thereby rises to roughly €6.2bn, with €900m available in 2026 (€100m more than the previous year); more than 60% of the funding goes to sites outside metropolitan areas.
