After almost two years of full closure (since July 2024), the RB46 resumes service on the roughly five-kilometre section between Gründau-Lieblos and Gelnhausen on 13 April 2026. DB renewed the line, turned Lieblos station into a passing station, replaced two level crossings and built the step-free platform 1a at Gelnhausen. The reopening originally announced for late November 2025 was pushed back on 31 October 2025 to the Easter period 2026 because signalling and control work was still under way (LOK Report, 10 Apr 2026).
