The Ministry of Health of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania approves the merger of Universitätsmedizin Greifswald with Klinikum Karlsburg. The university medical centre is acquiring the hospital for around €25 million; the combination is to be completed on 1 January 2026. Update (02.04.2026): According to Klinikum Karlsburg, Greifswald University Medicine acquired the hospital from the Hamburg-based Dr. Guth group at the start of 2026; the full merger of the two hospitals is planned for 01.01.2027 (klinikum-karlsburg.de, 02.04.2026: https://www.klinikum-karlsburg.de/allgemein/diabetes-versorgung-in-karlsburg-weiter-gestaerkt/).
