The previously single-track Homburger Damm north of Frankfurt's city centre received an additional track of about 800 metres to untangle the approach to the main station. Construction began in 2017 and the line went into operation in 2021, with the federal government and Deutsche Bahn investing around EUR 180 million. The added capacity benefits roughly 25,000 daily passengers through improved punctuality in long-distance and regional services.
