VTG to close Großräschen wagon maintenance plant at end-2026

VTG will shut down its maintenance plant for intermodal freight wagons in Großräschen on 31 December 2026; employees at the site were told in person at an internal event, and the report does not give their number. The plant was planned during a period of strong demand in intermodal transport and only began operating in 2024, but expected utilisation and economic prospects did not materialise to the required extent as market conditions changed. Maintenance of VTG's wagon fleet is to be handled through the group's European workshop network and external partners (LOK Report, 30 Jun 2026).
