The Global Tech I offshore wind farm is located in the North Sea about 93 km northwest of the island of Juist and comprises 80 Areva Multibrid M5000 turbines (5 MW each), totaling 400 MW of installed capacity. It is operated by Global Tech I Offshore Wind GmbH, based in Hamburg; the investment volume for the first construction phase is cited at approximately EUR 1.8 billion. The farm was officially commissioned on 2 September 2015 and supplies electricity equivalent to roughly 450,000 households.
