DB InfraGO to raise NRW bridge renewals to 23 a year from 2027

DB InfraGO raises bridge renewals from 14 to 23 a year and hires around 90 extra specialists by end-2028, and the state and municipalities add money from the special fund.

At the NRW infrastructure conference, the federal government, state, Autobahn GmbH, DB InfraGO and the municipal associations agreed steps to speed up bridge refurbishment; DB InfraGO chief Nagl announced a programme from 2027 raising renewals from 14 to 23 bridges a year, plus about 90 extra staff by the end of 2028. The state and municipalities also plan to use money from the special fund.
