Press reports: on 20 Sept 2026 Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that Swiss shipping group MSC is in talks with the German federal government and the state of Lower Saxony over acquiring their combined stake of around 80 % in cruise-ship builder Meyer Werft; the Meyer family holds the remaining roughly 20 %. The two governments invested some EUR 400 million in total when the yard was rescued. Handelsblatt picked up the talks on 21 Sept 2026 and describes them as at a very early stage, with other bidders still possible and failure not ruled out. Neither MSC nor Meyer Werft has commented officially (Bloomberg, 20 Sept 2026; Handelsblatt, 21 Sept 2026).
