The Burgberg Tunnel (on the Nuremberg–Bamberg railway line, opened in 1844, 306.65 m long) received a second tube, which entered service on 15 August 2016. The historic tube 1 was then closed for about a year: according to Wikipedia its structural condition was so good that a fundamental renovation was not required, but tracks and some surrounding bridges were renewed. Both tubes have been back in regular operation since 28 August 2017.
