After filing for insolvency under self-administration and an unsuccessful search for investors, toy manufacturer Franz Schneider GmbH & Co. KG (brand Rolly Toys — pedal tractors, go-karts, sledges) is closing its Neustadt bei Coburg site on 31 December 2026. More than 110 employees will lose their jobs, many of them aged between 50 and 62; management is working on a bonus for staff who stay until the end. Owner Frank Schneider told the 'Fraenkischer Tag' that production in Neustadt could no longer be saved. The company cites energy prices that rose after the start of the war, higher material and purchasing costs, Chinese competition and US tariffs, as well as the loss of its second-largest customer last year. The Rolly Toys brand, founded in 1938, is to survive: two companies want to continue production at a different site.
