DB completes platform and subway upgrade at Hanau Hbf

DB InfraGO has renewed the two southern island platforms at Hanau main station and redesigned the pedestrian subway, which was symbolically inaugurated on 12 May 2026. Since 2021 the project partners (the state of Hesse, the city of Hanau, RMV and DB) have invested about EUR 22.2 million in several construction phases, of which about EUR 5.6 million went into the subway; new features include lifts, platform roofs, adjusted platform heights and tactile guidance elements. The station handles more than 23,000 passengers a day, and the city's next big project is redesigning the station area (LOK Report, 12 May 2026).
