Schmitz Cargobull to take full ownership of Berger Fahrzeugtechnik

Schmitz Cargobull is buying the remaining shares in lightweight trailer maker Berger Fahrzeugtechnik, in which it has held 49% since 2024; the shareholders around Gerhard Berger are selling their remaining stakes. Products, contacts and service are to stay unchanged, and closing is subject to antitrust approval (Verkehrsrundschau, 21 Apr 2026). Update (22.10.2026): The European Commission cleared the acquisition of sole control under the simplified procedure without competition concerns (case M.12490); completion is not confirmed.
