Coolbet's Estonian company VG Estonia has notified the Unemployment Insurance Fund of more than 130 redundancies, 134 according to Äripäev; that would affect almost half of its 300-plus staff in Tallinn. The company cites weaker business-to-business results and growing regulatory and tax pressure; the final scope depends on the consultations (ERR, 29 October 2026). — Source: https://news.err.ee/1610180281/coolbet-estonia-to-shed-up-to-134-jobs-at-tallinn-hq

Gambling group Flutter announced on 20 October 2026 plans to cut up to 1,400 jobs in its UK and Ireland business, mainly in Leeds and Dublin (240 roles at the Clonskeagh headquarters, with voluntary redundancy offered) plus hubs in Porto and Cluj-Napoca. The company blames higher UK taxes on online casino and sports betting, which it says it cannot fully absorb; which functions are affected has not been disclosed (BBC, 20 Oct 2026; second source: RTÉ, 20 Oct 2026). Update (25 Oct 2026): The programme includes closing Sky Bet's headquarters, relocated from the UK to Malta in November 2025 (the Maltese entity SBG Sports Limited is to be wound down): about 50 jobs in Malta are affected and the remaining staff are expected to move to Gibraltar; the figure of 1,400 is unchanged and the Maltese jobs are not counted on top (iGamingCapital, 22 Oct 2026; Casino Guardian, 21 Oct 2026). — Sources: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqzrdpkm3g84o · https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2026/1020/1596128-flutter-job-cuts/ · https://igamingcapital.mt/flutter-reverse-sky-bets-malta-move-less-than-a-year-later/ · https://www.casinoguardian.co.uk/2026/10/21/flutter-announces-sky-bet-malta-office-shutdown-amid-strategic-shift/

Société Française de Casinos (SFC) announced on 18 September 2026 the signing of the definitive purchase agreement under which Merkur Spielbanken Beteiligungs GmbH — a subsidiary of Merkur.com AG, wholly owned by the Gauselmann family foundation — acquires 95% of holding company Casigrangi. Casigrangi holds 4,135,434 SFC shares, around 81.213% of the share capital and voting rights; the price paid corresponds to EUR 6.19 per SFC share. Completion remains subject to the customary regulatory authorisations. Merkur will then be required to file a simplified mandatory cash tender offer (OPAS) for the remaining shares at the same EUR 6.19 per share, and has stated its intention to subsequently request a squeeze-out and delist SFC.
Bookmaker Betfred opened a consultation on 31 July 2026 on closing 132 betting shops and cutting more than 600 roles from September 2026, affecting more than a tenth of its estate and leaving it with around 1,100 shops. Chief executive Joanne Whittaker said the decision was taken with 'deep regret' and pointed to a combination of cost pressures: remote gaming duty rose from 21% to 40% on 1 April 2026, and a separate 25% rate on remote betting follows on 1 April 2027. The move follows comparable shop closures by rivals Entain (Ladbrokes) and Evoke (William Hill). — Source: https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/betfred-shut-132-shops-axe-114228472.html

🤝 Kenneth Dart triggers mandatory bid for Evolution AB (Sweden)

On Friday 24 July 2026 US investor Kenneth Dart crossed the 30 percent threshold in Evolution AB through physical share purchases at SEK 687.80–701.00 per share, triggering Sweden's mandatory bid rule (budplikt). Since late March Dart had held more than 30 percent economic exposure through swap agreements without triggering the obligation. He now has four weeks either to launch a mandatory offer to the company's roughly 74,000 shareholders or to sell back below the threshold. Based on the minimum required price (the highest price paid in the preceding six months), such an offer would be worth around SEK 137–139.5 billion — one of the largest mandatory bids in the history of the Stockholm exchange. Second source: MarketScreener, 24 July 2026. Update (13 August 2026): On 13 August 2026 Candle Lake published the formal mandatory offer of SEK 695 in cash per share. Based on all 189,447,977 outstanding shares, the offer values Evolution at around SEK 131.7 billion, below the range previously reported on the basis of the minimum required price. The price matches the closing price of 24 July 2026 and represents a premium of 1.6% over the volume-weighted 20-day average up to that day, but also a discount of 5.7% to the closing price of SEK 737.20 on 12 August 2026. Candle Lake states that it holds 59,798,619 shares, or around 31.56% of the votes. The offer document is expected to be published on or around 14 August 2026, with the acceptance period expected to run from around 17 August to around 15 September 2026; completion is conditional solely on the necessary regulatory clearances (source: Candle Lake Limited press release via Cision, 13 August 2026). Update (16 September 2026): The mandatory offer has closed — only 111,716 shares (about 0.06% of capital and votes) were tendered; Candle Lake therefore still holds about 59.9 million shares or 31.6% (around 33.8% economic exposure including total return swaps). The offer is unconditional and completed, settlement starts around 23 September 2026; Dart does not obtain a controlling majority (Placera, 16 September 2026). — Source: https://efn.se/kenneth-darts-nya-drag-utloser-budplikt-i-evolution
