The Theo Müller group is giving up two production sites: the Homann sauce plant in Rogätz, Börde district, with about 160 staff will stop production by the end of September 2027, while the Sachsenmilch hard cheese dairy in Leppersdorf, including its packing and administration areas and likewise about 160 staff, closes on 31 December 2026. For Rogätz the group cites a cost base that is not competitive, heavy investment needs and falling demand for sauces in jars; in Leppersdorf, it says, the business cannot be run profitably in the long term. The sour-milk cheese and mozzarella operations at Wachau continue. Talks with the works council are to cover redeployment within the group, agreed changes to contracts and training. Leppersdorf was first reported by the Leipziger Volkszeitung and confirmed by a company spokesperson (dpa-AFX, 6 Oct 2026). — Source: https://www.finanznachrichten.de/nachrichten-2026-10/69768383-theo-mueller-schliesst-werke-in-sachsen-anhalt-und-sachsen-016.htm

A fire on 23 September 2025 irreparably destroyed the control and safety technology of the Gerwisch signal box, and DB InfraGO is replacing it with a new electronic interlocking to restore full capacity on the Magdeburg–Berlin line. Demolition began on 7 January 2026, foundation work followed in May and the modular building was set in place on 23 June 2026; closures with replacement buses between Biederitz and Möser remain in force until 30 September 2026. As a stopgap, up to three trains per hour and direction have run since November 2025, and the neighbouring Biederitz and Möser interlockings have been linked since March 2026. The date is a placeholder: only the fourth quarter of 2026 is given (LOK Report, 23 Jun 2026). Update (1 October 2026): the new electronic interlocking at Gerwisch went into service on schedule on 30 September 2026; rebuilding after the fire of September 2025 took twelve months (Deutsche Bahn, 1 October 2026). — Sources: https://www.lok-report.de/news/deutschland/aus-den-laendern/sachsen-anhalt-modulgebaeude-fuer-neues-estw-gerwisch-aufgestellt.html · https://www.lok-report.de/news/deutschland/aus-den-laendern/sachsen-anhalt-baustart-fuer-neues-stellwerk-in-gerwisch-im-mai.html · https://www.lok-report.de/news/deutschland/aus-den-laendern/64234-sachsen-anhalt-rueckbau-des-stellwerks-gerwisch-startet-deutsche-bahn-bereitet-neubau-nach-brand-vor.html · https://www.lok-report.de/news/deutschland/aus-den-laendern/62504-sachsen-anhalt-stellwerk-gerwisch-ab-28-november-eingeschraenkter-zugverkehr-zwischen-magdeburg-und-berlin.html · https://www.lok-report.de/news/deutschland/aus-den-laendern/62137-sachsen-anhalt-arbeiten-fuer-mehr-zugverkehr-laufen-nach-dem-brand-im-stellwerk-in-gerwisch-auf-hochtouren.html · https://www.deutschebahn.com/de/presse/presse-regional/pr-leipzig-de/aktuell/presseinformationen/Wiedereroeffnung-des-Stellwerks-in-Gerwisch-Deutsche-Bahn-nimmt-neues-Elektronisches-Stellwerk-in-Betrieb-14050206

Auto supplier Bohai Automotive, insolvent since April 2025, will cease operations in Harzgerode entirely with effect from 31.01.2027; according to the insolvency administrator, around 550 employees at Bohai and three sister companies are affected. Because the Schlote companies in Harzgerode and Wernigerode, which depend on Bohai's business, are also closing, around 730 jobs will go in total according to dpa. Despite an international search for investors and support from major customers, not enough new orders could be secured; a last promising bidder pulled out (Brinkmann & Partner, 28.09.2026; dpa/t-online, 29.09.2026). — Source: https://www.brinkmann-partner.de/harzgerode-bohai-werk-und-schwestergesellschaften-muessen-geschaeftsbetrieb-einstellen/

The upgrade of the Magdeburg–Halberstadt railway line (Saxony-Anhalt) aims to enable 120 km/h operation throughout and cut travel time to 40 minutes, at a total cost of about EUR 55 million. According to the German Wikipedia article on the Magdeburg–Thale line, construction section 1 Magdeburg–Blumenberg (excluding platforms) was commissioned in 2018, not on 10 Dec 2017 as stated in the original list — no source found confirms that exact date. A second construction phase then followed, rebuilding tracks 1–5, with the overall project (untangling entry/exit routes, higher line speeds) planned to run through 2019. — Source: https://bahnblogstelle.com/23838/eisenbahnknoten-magdeburg-reisende-muessen-sich-auf-baubedingte-einschraenkungen-bis-maerz-2018-einstellen/

The first construction stage of the double-track expansion of the Stendal–Uelzen railway line comprised the Hohenwulsch–Brunau-Packebusch and Rademin–Salzwedel sections, together about 21 km long, at an estimated cost of roughly EUR 57 million. The Hohenwulsch–Brunau-Packebusch section entered service in October 2017 (the second section, Rademin–Salzwedel, followed at the end of 2018); construction had begun in late 2014, with commissioning delayed by planning errors at level crossings. The expansion is part of the larger "Ostkorridor" (East Corridor) project for continuous double-tracking between Uelzen and Stendal, whose overall completion is planned for 2028. — Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnstrecke_Stendal%E2%80%93Uelzen
